Stubs (P.): Catalogue of Tools with Price List, circa 1800
O/P. A very good quality photocopy of the Peter Stubs of Warrington Tool Catalogue (circa 1800) owned by Professor David Torrens; photocopied by Charles Allix before he sold the Catalogue to the Prescot Museum. The catalogue has 36 full page plates (approximately 14 x 9 inches) illustrating 286 tools and is sold with a photocopy of a 15-page List of the Prices of Watch, Clock, and Jewellers' Tools, &, &, manufactured by Peter Stubs, Warrington dated 1807. I purchased this item at the sale of Charles Allix's books in 2012; The tool catalogue was listed in the Malcolm Gardner/Charles Allix catalogue of the Torrens Collection - catalogue XVI - issued in 1971. Very good quality photocopies, in good condition, nicely bound by Charles Allix with correspondence about various Stubs papers bound in. (Ref: K5227)

Surrey Dane (E.): Peter Stubs and the Lancashire Hand Tool Industry
O/P. 291 pages, illustrated, 1973. The story of how Peter Stubs of Warrington, a file maker by trade, had the vision to organise the production and distribution of tools in South West Lancashire. He founded a business which was still in existence when the book was written 175 years later. Good copy, the dust jacket a bit worn. (Ref: K370 - F2)

Volume 1 (376 pages, each model illustrated in colour) is a catalogue of all Swatch products (mainly watches but also telephones and sunglasses) made between 1983 and 1992 when the 100 millionth watch was made. Volume 2 (93 pages, illustrated) is a complete history and development of the Swatch brand, volume 3 (28 pages) is an index to the products made and a chronology of the brand. 3 volumes all in fine condition, with card covers, housed in original hard plastic slipcase. The deluxe edition, printed on handmade paper, top edge gilt, limited to 350 copies, burgundy half calf binding and gilt lettering, with red cloth covered slipcase. An important book about England's most famous clock and watch maker. A fine copy with good original slipcase.
