Above the maker's name is an engraved monogram. The centre of the dial is also engraved with an 8-point compass rose.

A portable equinoctial sundial in its original leather case, signed on the hour plate C W Dixey 3 New Bond Street London.
Dixey held various British Royal appointments including Optician and Mathematical Instrument Maker to Queen Victoria. He also held overseas appointments to the King and Queen of Hanover and the King of Belgium. Dixey exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London.

A mahogany bow-front stick barometer with thermometer, signed on the silvered register plates Frankham 12 Wilson Stt Grays Inn Rd London.
The barometer has a boxwood cistern; the scale is calibrated from 27 to 31 inches of mercury and is fitted with a vernier operated by a bone knob. The mahogany veneered case which conceals the tube has a turned and ebonised cistern cover and curved glass over the pressure and temperature scales.

A scientific barometer on the Fortin principle signed on the silvered scale J.B. Dancer, Optician, Manchester No. 282.
The instrument has a black painted tube with a thermometer mounted on the front.
The barometer scale reads from 27 to 32.5 inches of mercury, the thermometer scale from 25 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

A rare mid-nineteenth century scientific barometer with a large diameter tube and a movable scale so that the zero position may be accurately set to the level of mercury in the short limb.
The barometer and a thermometer are mounted on a mahogany backboard.
