[Sotheby's]: Clocks, Barometers, Watches and Wristwatches
O/P. 394 lots, some illustrated. Stars of the sale were an early provincial longcase clock by Thomas Deale of Ashford (Kent), a Fromanteel longcase and a John Knibb (Oxford) longcase. O/P. 370 lots, many illustrated. Seth G. Atwood, founder of the Time Museum (now closed and dispersed) formed the finest horological collection in the world. This sale of watches was a result of the rationalisation of the collection and is a complete cross-section of watches made between the 16th and 20th centurues. Good copy, card covers. O/P. 137 pages, 145 lots all illustrated, 2001. The catalogue of a famous collection sold in New York. Shepro collected early European table clocks, English lantern, bracket and longcase clocks and French clocks including those with fine Boulle cases. A useful reference book for the enthusiast.
