These watches, mostly in large pocket watch style cases, were sold to governments and navies around the world so the book will be of great interest to military watch enthusiasts. The book opens with an account of the evolution of the watch and this is followed by a detailed, well illustrated account of 30 specific examples. As Harrison's own writings are very difficult to understand, Laycock's analysis of his ideas is of value to all enthusiasts.
