O/P. 479 pages, illus., 1991. The Antiquorum auction catalogue for 14 April 1991 with good descriptions and illustrations of 204 clock, watches and marine chronometers, with interesting biographies for many of the original purchasers. [Antiquorum]: The Art of British Horology
O/P. 263 lots, all illustrated in colour. A fine selection of items from an early pocket watch by George Smith, circa 1610, through the following 350 years to a fine silver cased carriage clock made circa 1974. The catalogue is a useful reference as it has brief biographies of the more important makers and describes and illustrates some fine pocket watches, clocks and marine chronometers. O/P. The subtitle of this auction was Antiquorum in Love, the objects for sale celebrating love's symbolisms throughout history. A thematic sale including erotic watches with automata. 195 lots all illustrated in colour, including carriage clocks, pocket watches, a few wristwatches and jewellery. The items included a fine snuff box with watch and secret compartment revealing an erotic scene made by James Cox, London. A very good copy of the hardback catalogue. [Antiquorum]: The Longitude at the Eve of the Third Millenium
O/P. A sale of important precision timekeepers - marine chronometers, regulators, watches - and documents relating to the discovery of the longitude. 75 lots all illustrated in colour, the most important being an 8-day marine timekeeper by Henry Sully - probably the third he made and one of only two known to have survived. This item, called Pendule à Levier by Sully, was made in 1724 and is extensively described and illustrated. Other items in the sale included an exceptional chronometer wristwatch by F.P. Journe, a pocket watch by George Daniels, several marine chronometers by Breguet and the first lever watch made by Joseph Emery. Hardback catalogue, very good condition. O/P. 500 pages, illus., 2001. The Antiquorum auction catalogue for the sale of The Sandberg Watch Collection which comprised 423 items all beautifully illustrated and described. The collection had many fine early pocket watches, fine music boxes and many beautifully decorated and enamelled pieces. A fine record of an outstanding collection of watches, many made for the Chinese market, a useful reference book for collectors. [Antiquorum]: Professor Thomas Engel Collection - Part 1
O/P. 133 lots, most illustrated in colour. Professor Thomas Engel's collection was mainly pocket watches but this auction also included a few wristwatches, books, horological tools, marine chronometers and several Breguet manuscripts. Pocket and wristwatches by Breguet was one of the collections strengths and perhaps the star of the collection was a one-minute flying tourbillon pocket chronometer made in 1927 by Alfred Helwig. Highlights of the sale were a rare platinum 'World Time' wristwatch by Patek Philippe, a singing bird timepiece specially made for the 1851 Great Exhibition in London, a fine mantel regulator by Henri Motel and a pocket chronometer by Louis Berthoud.
