Thomas de Colmar, Paris c1875 A large French arithmometer with 10 entry digits, 11 revolution counter digits and 20 product digits (ie a 10-11-20 machine), stamped Thomas de Colmar A Paris inventeur No. 1300. The calculator is housed in its original ebonised box with brass stringing, the lid inlaid with brass letters reading Arithmométre.
Viner & Co., London c1830 This small decorative ebony and ormolu bracket clock, with an engraved, engine turned and gilt dial, signed on the backplate Viner & Co,, 233 Regent St.The 5-pillar movement, with chain driven fusees, has an anchor escapement and strikes the hours on a bell. The ebony veneered case has more than 60 good quality chased and gilded mounts.Case height 16¾ inches, including finial.
Clockmaker's Sector A large nineteenth century brass clockmaker's sector, with the name Edwin Herrick engraved on the back of the hinge. The instrument is probably of English manufacture.
Portrait of Thomas Tompion A 20th century facsimile reproduction of the well known mezzotint of Thomas Tompion by John Smith, after the original portrait by Sir Godfrey Kneller painted circa 1695.
